Our cabins have a lot of country charm. We have been told that these cabins, two were originally forest service ranger cabins, take a person a step back in time. They are clean, bright, non-smoking and are tastefully decorated with a few antiques. Each unit is set up independently and equipped for the maximum number of occupants as specified. We do not provide roll-away cots to sleep additional guests above the maximum specified per unit or to provide separate single beds.

We do not have facilities (common kitchen, dining hall and washrooms) for large gatherings and therefore discourage group bookings. Each unit is to be reserved and reservation deposit paid by the individual who will be responsible for balance payment, compliance to our polices and reimbursement for repair of any damage or the cleaning of any excessive mess. We require that any accidental damage that occurs to be brought to our attention prior to check-out. We strive to provide clean and quiet accommodations and expect guests to co-operate with us fully in this regard.

We do not provide daily maid service. Our accommodations are equipped for guests to do their own light housekeeping. With longer term stays exceeding one week duration, weekly maid service is provided.

There are no telephones in the cabins. There is good cell phone reception at our location through Telus. WIFI wireless service is available on-site for internet connection with personal computers.

In Alberta, it is customary to remove outside footwear upon entering a private residence or guest cabin. Please bring slippers or clean deck shoes for inside wear. Extra cleaning fees will apply for those who choose not to comply.

Nutritious breakfasts are served in our main house between 8 am and 10 am daily. We offer home-made granola, home-baked fruit cobbler, muffins, bagels, toast, jams, ham, cheese, yogurt, fresh fruit in season, orange juice, tea and plenty of freshly brewed coffee.

RIVERSIDE CAMPING SITES

TEEPEES: Teepees are available from mid-May to mid-October. Each teepee has a comfortable double bed, rustic wash stand, lounge chairs, wood floor, outside picnic table, firepit and propane barbeque. At a minimum guests must bring a flashlight and matches and be prepared for camping overnight in a tent. We provide good quality camp cots for additional teepee occupants at $5/night per child (2 - 16 years old) and $10/night per adult. We prefer if teepee guests bring their own sleeping bags but can provide warm bedding at a cost of $15/bed (not per night) for single or double bedding for those who are unable to bring their own bedding ie. international travelers. Our one 18' teepee can sleep up to five adults, two 16' teepees can sleep three adults or two adults and two children and the one 14' teepee sleeps two adults. Teepees by their design are not completely sealed from the elements and some water will drip inside during heavy storms. We provide waterproof cover tarps for the beds and gear.

CAMP SITES: Unserviced camping sites for tenting or camper (RV) parking with picnic table, firepit and grille. There is a near-by outhouse (pit) toilet and separate shower house with flush toilet on-site. Split firewood is available for purchase for outside fires at a nominal fee.

Our reservation policy is a two (2) night minimum booking for a cabin unless one single night is open due to the way others have booked. For all long weekends our policy is a minimum three (3) night booking if the nights are available. We do accept one-night late bookings one day in advance.

CABINS: Cabin reservations are accepted with payment of $150.00 deposit by MasterCard or Visa. Credit card reservation deposits are refundable, less a $25.00 transaction fee when we are provided with two (2) weeks notice of cancellation during peak-season (June through September & Christmas break).

With short notice cancellation of less than fourteen (14) full days during peak-season, guests will be billed for all nights reserved at base rate of $155/night, less any nights that we have been able to re-book on short notice. Please note that if reservation cancellation is necessary, the longer notice provided the better chance we have to re-book a cabin.

Off-season from October through May (except during Christmas break) cabin reservation deposits are refundable less a $25.00 transaction fee when provided with two (2) weeks notice of cancellation. With short notice of less than fourteen (14) days during off-season guests will be billed for all nights reserved at $100/night, less any nights that we have been able to re-book.

Off-season weekly or monthly rates are to be paid up-front for the week or month (four weeks), any refund with short notice cancellation of less than seven (7) days will be at our discretion with weekly or monthly stays.

For those who do not have a credit card for cabin reservations we require a deposit of $150.00 for each night reserved during peak-season or $100.00 for each night reserved during off-season, paid at the time of booking paid by cash, cheque or money order. If cancellation is necessary we will refund deposit payment by cheque, less our $25.00 cancellation fee when we are provided with a minumum of two weeks notice of cancellation. With short notice cancellation we will refund the deposit payment of $150/night or $100/night only for any nights that are able to re-book to other guests following short notice, less the $25.00 cancellation fee.

REFUNDS: Reservation deposit refund payment for cancellations that are received with adequate notice will be processed within 24 hours and confirmed by e-mail. Short-notice cancellations will be confirmed by e-mail within 24 hours of cancellation notice being received and then followed-up within 24 hours of the last night reserved to advise of total amount of balance payment due.

It is the renters responsibility to wash dishes, tidy up and remove garbage daily. Fresh towels and linens are available on request. We do not provide coffee, tea or other beverages.

MINIMUM STAY: Peak-Season summer months and off-season weekends are our busiest times and booking a one night stay may block a two or three night booking on ANY accommodations that we offer. As we have limited accommodations to offer, during our busy season a request for a single night stay may not be granted. However, quite often especially during the summer we will have availability for a single night due to the way others have booked. Please inquire. Great camping spot! Our location at Old Entrance is virtually mosquito free due to lack of nearby standing water and our mountain breezes.

Nestled in the foothills along the eastern slopes of the Rockies our 60 acre property and surrounding crown lands provide excellent trails for various year-round outdoor activities; sightseeing, bird watching, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and ATV touring.

We offer private fully-serviced cabins, a rustic cabin, two bedroom guest suite in our main house, cozy riverside teepees and riverside campsites in a very safe environment. Each unit is set up independently and suitable for the maximum occupancy number specified. We do not have facitities for and therefore discourage large group gatherings.

Old Entrance is a scenic historic site along the Athabasca River, a ten minute drive from Hinton's Parks West Mall and 18-hole golf course. The east gate of Jasper National Park is a fifteen minute drive on Highway #16 and world famous Miette Hot Springs is a half hour away.

We're conveniently located near the trans-Canada Yellowhead Highway #16 between Vancouver and Edmonton on Bighorn Highway #40 North, the scenic Alaska route. Old Entrance is a ten minute drive from Hinton's shopping and dining a a 45 minute drive from Jasper townsite. Please check our MAPS webpage for detailed driving instructions and a map.

Our main house is the recently restored historic 1914 "Entrance" railway station, the original "Gateway to the Rockies", located on the long abandoned Canadian Northern Railway grade. The Guest Suite is located on the lower floor level.

Guests' pets are welcome but must be kept under strict control at all times. A per night or per week fee is charged for all pets staying with guests on-site. Pets must not be left unattended at any time.

For those traveling with their own horses we offer overnight holding corrals or stable. We advise bringing your horse feed and own watering bucket or tub. Water is available at the corrals.
